01 Máhte Mihkkal Sara
Máhte Mihkkal Sara was a beloved, helpful, and kind man who was well-known as a healer. This photograph was on the walls of many houses in Lerresfjord. It has also become a postcard.
02 Dorka
The dorka was made by sheepskin and decorated with red and blue ribbons. It was used below the gákti, the Sámi costume, to keep you warm. Previous owners: Sigvald and Sissel Sjursen, Maribukt, Lille Lerresfjord.
03 Hand bailer

04 Net mending needles
From Lerresfjord, made in the early 20th century. Previous owners: Knut-Oskar Valdemar and Roald Murberg.
05 Skáhppu
Collected in Rafsbotn by Ole Solberg of the Ethnographic Museum. Owned by Guovdageainnu gilišillju – Kautokeino Municipal Museum.
06 Ládjogahpir, horn bonnet
Heidi Persen made this horn bonnet based on the ladjofierra, the bonnet horn from Øksfjord.
07 Ládjofierra, bonnet horn
Bertrand M. Nilsen sent this bonnet horn made of leather from Øksfjord to Oslo in 1910. He wrote: ‘1 Woman’s bonnet, in use at the Beginning of the 19th Century, and 1 Appertaining Horn.’ Anna Olsdatter wore the ládjogahpir, horn bonnet, when she was photographed with her family in Lerresfjord in 1883.

Vuoddagat, boot laces with patterns from the coast, collected by Dagrun Sarak Sara from Álttá Sámi Giellaguovddáš, the Alta Sámi Language Centre. Made by Anna C. Sjursen.
09 Male gákti
Collected by Bertrand M. Nilsen in Øksfjord in 1910.
10 Boagán, belt
The belt, boagán, is made of felt cloth and decorated with wool, riebangolli and has sheep skin edges. Riebangolli, mica, is retrieved in nature. It gives off a lustrous shimmer, and the white sheep skin gives it a light and nice edge. These patterns can be found in other types of Sámi handicraft, on wood, horn, and bone. Collected by Bertrand M. Nilsen in Øksfjord in 1910.
11 Goavddis
A copy of the drum that belonged to Poala-Ánde, who was accused of ‘ungodly witchcraft’ and killed in prison in 1692. The original is kept by the museum association RiddoDuottarMuseat in Karasjok. The process of its repatriation from the National Museum in Copenhagen began in 2021. The copy was made by Ovlla Gaup.
